in Economy / Kazakhstan - by

The Governor of Zhambyl Region, Erbol Karashukeev, recently convened meetings with business representatives from various countries at the international agricultural forum-exhibition "KazAgroZhambyl-2024" in Taraz. The primary focus of these discussions was on establishing investment ties and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.

Noteworthy agreements were made during the forum, including a deal for the construction of a substantial greenhouse complex spanning over 100 hectares by Shouguang Agricultural Development Group Limited, with investments amounting to $70 million. Another company, Shandong Shouguang Vegetable Industry Group Co., also expressed keen interest in the fruit and vegetable industry of the region.

The anticipated launch of two significant greenhouse complexes is poised to elevate the region as a key supplier of horticultural products within the country. Furthermore, Kazakh Industrial Stroi has initiated work on a $7 million plant for manufacturing concrete slabs, crucial for the construction and refurbishment of irrigation channels, thereby extending their longevity and reducing water wastage.

A notable project on the horizon includes the establishment of a drip irrigation system plant, with the "KAZ Caspian HYDRO village irrigation technology" company from Zhambyl Region intending to invest $6 million in enhancing irrigation practices in the region.

Governor Karashukeev also engaged with leaders from companies involved in the production of irrigation equipment, agro-drones, plastics, and vegetable products. Discussions with the Association of Seed Producers of Economic Cooperation Countries emphasized the importance of improving seed quality to ensure higher crop yields.

The international exhibition has drawn participation from over 70 major companies and officials from the agriculture ministries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and the Turkic States Organization. The forum-exhibition will continue its activities on March 21st, including the 3rd meeting of agriculture ministers of the Turkic States Organization, the 8th Congress of Seed Producers ECO SA, Turkic Agribusiness Forum, and B2B meetings.
