Russian and Kazakh Governments Collaborate on Building Three Thermal Power Plants

The Minister of Energy, Almasadam Satkaliev, provided updates on the construction progress of three thermal power plants in Kazakhstan in collaboration with Russian company "Inter RAO". The plants are set to be built in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Regarding the project in Kokshetau, adjustments are being made to the technical and economic feasibility. Significant progress has been made, with construction expected to commence this year. For the other projects, feasibility studies are nearing completion, and technical solutions will be approved, with equipment being ordered from relevant factories.

During the XIX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhunangarin announced that documents for Russian participation in the projects are expected to be signed. Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar mentioned that the Russian side will build the thermal power plants on a turnkey basis.

Chairman of Samruk-Energy, Kairat Maksutov, revealed the estimated costs for the construction of the three plants in Kazakhstan, amounting to 330 billion and 270 billion tenge for each plant respectively.
