Government of Kazakhstan to Provide Grants for New Business Ideas Implementation

in Economy / Kazakhstan - by

The portal business.enbek.kz will start accepting applications for grants to implement new business ideas from April 8, 2024. Within the first phase, 4500 grants are planned to be issued across the country.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced on March 28 that the grants are provided free of charge to support the launch and development of new businesses. Each grant amounts to 400 times the Monthly Calculation Index (1,476,800 tenge) and can only be received once.

To apply for a grant, applicants need to register on the business.enbek.kz portal, pass the eligibility check, download and fill in the business plan template, and submit it online along with a signed digital signature.

Applicants who can apply for the grant to implement a new business idea include registered unemployed individuals and individual entrepreneurs with up to three years of registration. They must belong to specific social categories such as people with disabilities, individuals with the status of "kandas," interregional migrants, members of low-income families, spouses in large families, caregivers of disabled children, and recipients of loss of breadwinner benefits.

In order to ensure transparency, reduce human error, and enhance applicant convenience, the entire grant application process has been moved online to the business.enbek.kz portal. Grants can be used for purchasing necessary inventory, tools, equipment, livestock, poultry, plants, seeds, seedlings, shrubs, and paying rent for premises.

Grants are not provided for personal consumption, repaying loans, buying or constructing residential real estate, purchasing land plots, or producing excisable goods. The decision to grant is made by a commission based on clear evaluation criteria of the applicants' business projects.

If approved, applicants provide their banking details, sign a contract, and subsequently quarterly report on fund usage, all done electronically without visiting labor mobility centers or their branches.

This initiative by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan aims to support entrepreneurship and economic growth by facilitating access to funding for innovative business ventures.
