Kazakhstan President Discusses Renewable Energy Cooperation in China

During a working visit to China, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Chairman of the Board of State Power Investment Corporation, Liu Minshen. Talks revolved around further collaboration in the energy sector, particularly focusing on renewable energy sources.

President Tokayev was briefed on the active involvement of China Power International Holding's subsidiary in Kazakhstan. Over the past 5 years, a wind energy project was established in Zhanatas, along with a solar power station in Karaganda.

Liu Minshen expressed interest in exploring opportunities for large-scale hydroelectric projects and the construction of steam gas turbines in Kazakhstan. President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan's desire to attract top international technologies and practices in renewable energy.

President Tokayev arrived in China on the morning of March 28, 2024, where he was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of BAF, Pan Gi Moon, and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhao Lezzi.

The Kazakh President has already addressed the plenary session of the Boao Asian Forum, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in renewable energy initiatives.
