The agricultural sector in the region is gearing up for the current sowing campaign, with nearly 13,000 tractors of various modifications, 14,000 grain seeders, and 1,500 modern sowing complexes set to be utilized. According to the Department of Agriculture of the region, workshops at agricultural enterprises are wrapping up the preparation of equipment for field operations.
The state has allocated over 53,000 tons of diesel fuel to local farmers at a price of 250 tenge per liter. The diesel fuel allocated for February, totaling 6,000 tons, has been fully purchased, with operators now commencing the fuel delivery to agricultural producers in the region.
The main agronomist of "Peterfeld-Agro" and "Aiteke BI SK," Korney Shevchenko, shared insights on the upcoming sowing plans, which include cultivating various crops such as wheat, barley, oats, corn, and more, covering a significant portion of fodder and commercial crops.
To ensure a successful spring fieldwork season, thorough preparations are underway, with repairs of heavy machinery nearing completion in two collectives. Currently, the focus has shifted to repairing toothed harrows used for surface soil treatment.
The participation of four sowing complexes, including "Buhler" with the "Bourgault" complex, along with eight K-700 units equipped with "Omichka" seeders and four K-700 units with the "Stepnyak" cultivator, is planned for the spring fieldwork. The update of machinery, including the acquisition of new balers, cultivators, harrows, and a machine for liquid fertilizer application, demonstrates the commitment to enhancing agricultural operations.
Despite challenging weather conditions in 2023, the average yield of grains per hectare was 24 centners, comprising barley and wheat. For the upcoming 2024 harvest season, agricultural formations in the region have already sown 484.5 thousand tons of seeds.
Laboratories such as AO "Kazakhstani Agricultural Expertise" and TOO "GrainAgroExpert" have tested 269.6 thousand tons of seeds, contributing to the increased percentage of high-yielding seed variety renewal in farms. The region has seen a 1.3% rise in seed variety renewal over the past five years.
As per the Roadmap for 2024-2028, the goal is to increase the seed variety renewal rate to 10%, requiring agricultural formations to acquire 48 thousand tons of elite seeds. Certified seed-producing farms in the region have already produced 67.6 thousand tons of seeds this year, with additional imports from other regions of Kazakhstan, Russia, and European countries exceeding 16.7 thousand tons since the beginning of the year. The work in this direction continues to progress, ensuring a promising agricultural season ahead.
