The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) has announced the release of new collectible coins into circulation. The NBK is issuing the WORLD PAINTING collectible coins as part of the series "Exploring Coins - Discovering Kazakhstan".
The coins are designed based on the Kazakhstan international art project World Painting, featuring a drawing of a world dove by artist Karipbek Kuyukov, a victim of nuclear weapons testing at the Semipalatinsk Polygon, and an olive branch by artist Dauren Kasteev, the grandson of Abilkhan Kasteev.
The WORLD PAINTING coin project aims to unite humanity, with a mosaic of fragments created by individuals from various countries. The canvas, known as the "Painting of the World", set a Guinness World Record for the most people contributing to a painting. Over 2070 individuals from nearly 200 countries left their mark on the canvas, symbolizing global unity.
The NBK revealed that the coins are made of 925/1000 silver using color printing technology. The silver coin weighs 62.2 grams, has a diameter of 50 mm, proof quality, and a face value of 2,000 tenge, with a limited mintage of 300 pieces.
Additionally, coins made of a nickel silver alloy MN 25 with color printing technology are also being issued. These coins weigh 15 grams, have a diameter of 33 mm, brilliant uncirculated quality, and a face value of 200 tenge, with a mintage of 5,000 pieces.
All coins are legal tender throughout Kazakhstan for all types of payments, bank deposits, transfers, exchanges, and transactions in all banks across the country.
The silver WORLD PAINTING coins come in souvenir packaging with quality certificates in Kazakh, Russian, and English. The nickel silver alloy coins are packaged in blister packs and all collectible coins are produced at the Kazakhstan Mint.
