According to a recent announcement by Marat Sultangaziev, the head of the Almaty region, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region reached 1.1 billion USD in 2023. Sultangaziev highlighted the region's efforts in modernizing and strengthening economic relations.

To further boost commercial turnover, plans are underway for the implementation of an international digital transport and logistics hub named "Dry Port Kalzhat." Local investors have shown interest in the project, which aims to enhance business development in logistics and trade, particularly in increasing freight transport with China.

Sultangaziev also emphasized the significant progress in international relations within the region, attributing success to the implementation of various investment projects across different economic sectors. Joint investment projects not only contribute to economic growth but also foster stronger ties with foreign partners, making the region more attractive for investors and entrepreneurs from diverse countries.

Erkin Tunyaz, the Chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region, praised the successful cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region in trade, industry, transport, logistics, agriculture, and tourism. He expressed confidence in the future collaboration between the Almaty region and the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region in implementing joint investment projects.

Given Almaty's strategic location at the intersection of key transportation routes in Kazakhstan, Tunyaz emphasized its role as a catalyst for the growth of logistics and trade. The region's proximity to Almaty city and the Chinese border positions it as a vital transportation hub, facilitating increased freight and passenger transport volumes and driving economic development at both the regional and national levels.

Tunyaz concluded by expressing confidence in strengthening bilateral cooperation across various economic sectors and implementing previously agreed-upon agreements.
