Deputy Finance Minister Erzhan Birzhanov discussed the possibility of revising transport tax rates during a Senate meeting on March 7th. Journalists inquired about the potential revision within the framework of the new Tax Code.
Birzhanov mentioned that a working group has already discussed the matter, and the government, along with the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken," is reviewing the issues. However, no official statement can be made yet as a final decision has not been reached. The focus is on older vehicles in rural areas, proposing adjustment coefficients to prevent them from being taxed at the same rates as new cars. The aim is to lessen the burden on the population, considering high-end vehicles as luxury items subject to luxury tax.
This reflects a potential redistribution of the tax burden. The Deputy Minister emphasized that while proposals are being considered, no concrete decision has been made. The final decision will be made after collecting all suggestions, with a new Tax Code set to be presented soon.
