March 2024 Sees Decline in Loans Issued Across Various Credit Products

In March 2024, there was a decrease in the number of loans issued across several credit products. The amount of mortgages issued amounted to 135.7 billion tenge, showing a 19% decrease compared to the previous month but a 31% increase compared to the previous year. These figures were shared by **Pervom Kreditnom Biuro (PKB)**.

A similar trend can be observed in the number of loans issued, with a 15% decrease on a monthly basis (1.6 thousand units) and a 19% increase annually (1.4 thousand units). In total, 8.8 thousand mortgage loans were issued during the month.

There has been a slight decrease in the pace of growth in unsecured consumer lending as well. The amount of loans issued decreased by 4% month-on-month to 812.5 billion tenge, and the number of loans decreased by 3% to 2.8 million units. However, there is an annual growth in both the amount of loans issued (23%) and their numbers (10%), as highlighted by the **Bureau**.

Significantly, there has been a contraction in secured consumer loans. According to PKB estimates, the number of loans issued hit a minimum since July 2020 (11 thousand units), and the amount reached a minimum since January 2023 (24.1 billion tenge). In contrast, auto loans have shown a different trend.

After a two-month decline, auto lending has picked up. The volume of loans issued amounted to 138.7 billion tenge, which is 14% higher than the previous level (17.2 billion tenge) and 28% higher than the previous year (30.3 billion tenge). The number of loans issued reached 16.1 thousand units.

Meanwhile, the average loan size was 8.6 million tenge. Overall, the total amount of all retail loans issued in March reached 1.2 trillion tenge, with a total of 4.2 million units. The aggregate portfolio of individuals as of April 1 amounted to 20.6 trillion tenge.
