The government resolution of April 26, 2024, has been adopted, introducing changes to the Interregional Scheme of Territorial Development of the Almaty Agglomeration.

In particular, in the section "SEZ "Park of Innovative Technologies," measures for the comprehensive development of the resettlement system and placement of productive forces, transport, engineering, social, and recreational infrastructure of regional and interregional significance are presented in a new edition.

It is stated that the creation of small industrial zones with an area of 1-2 hectares, where 20 to 60 buildings (100 or 200 square meters each) will be located, should also be provided (in the industrial zones "Arna," "Boraldai," "Kazbek bek," or outside the zones):

  • Based on ready-made buildings and structures of industrial orientation;
  • By building ready-made quickly erected buildings of industrial orientation with the provision of engineering communications;
  • By using existing property complexes, buildings, premises, and structures owned by communal property or under the operational management of legal entities (state institutions, enterprises), where small production enterprises will be located on lease terms.

The document specifies that the creation of small industrial zones will contribute to the development of economic sectors by providing small and medium-sized businesses with the opportunity to obtain production premises.

The resolution will come into force on May 10, 2024.

It was previously reported that the Ministry of National Economy has developed a Comprehensive Development Plan for the Almaty Agglomeration for 2024-2028. The Almaty Agglomeration includes the cities of Almaty, Konaev, Enbekshikazakhsky, Iliysky, Karasaysky, and Talgarsky districts.
