On March 9, Magzum Mirzagaliyev, the Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunayGas, met with Rovshan Najaf, the President of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) during his visit to Baku. The discussion revolved around the gradual increase in the transit volumes of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the transportation of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Supsa pipeline.

Mirzagaliyev emphasized the importance of SOCAR as a key strategic partner for KazMunayGas, expressing confidence that the incremental growth in the transit volumes of Kazakh oil would give a new impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

It is worth noting that under the signed Transit Agreement, 1.5 million tons of Kazakh oil have been steadily transported through Azerbaijan's territory since last year, following the Aktau-Baku-Ceyhan route. By the end of 2023, 1,057 thousand tons of oil were shipped from the port of Aktau, with an additional 232 thousand tons in January-February 2024.
