In the city of Shymkent and Turkestan Region, tariffs for electricity for businesses have been reduced.
As of May 2, the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KREM MNE RK) announced that Energyflow LLP notified the regional department of the committee about a 12.4% reduction in the tariff for electric energy for legal entities in Shymkent and Turkestan Region, from 42.23 tenge to 37 tenge/kW⋅h.
The reduced tariff came into effect on May 1, 2024. Overall, it will be reduced for over 32,000 subscribers (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) in the region.
"The tariff reduction became possible after the recent suspension by the territorial departments of KREM MNE RK of licenses for services related to supplying electric energy to non-regulated energy supply organizations (NESO). This work was carried out by the government in accordance with the President's instruction to eliminate intermediary structures, including unproductive intermediaries in the electricity supply chain for consumers," noted the committee.
The premise for the tariff reduction was the transition of legal entities and budget organizations in the city and region from non-regulated energy supply organizations to the guaranteed supplier of electric energy (Energyflow LLP), leading to an increase in the volume of services provided by the guaranteed supplier and consequently a reduction in the tariff itself.
"To ensure uninterrupted receipt of electric energy services, legal entities in Shymkent and Turkestan Region, who were previously serviced by non-regulated suppliers, have the opportunity to promptly enter into relevant contracts with Energyflow LLP," summarized KREM.
