The Russian government has imposed a temporary ban on sugar exports starting from May 3rd. However, sugar deliveries will still be possible to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but in limited quantities.

According to the Government, Russia is implementing a temporary ban on the export of cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose. The restriction will be in effect until August 31, 2024, with the aim of maintaining stability in the domestic food market.

It is noted that there are exceptions provided by the resolution. Sugar supplies will be allowed to the EAEU countries in specific amounts:

- to Armenia – 28,000 tons,

- to Belarus – 5,000 tons,

- to Kazakhstan – 120,000 tons,

- to Kyrgyzstan – 28,500 tons.

"The distribution of these volumes among foreign trade participants has been entrusted to the Ministry of Agriculture," added the Russian government.

Earlier, it was announced that Kazakhstan has imposed a temporary ban for six months on the import of chicken eggs by road transport from third countries and EAEU countries.
