The former site of the Novo-Karaganda Machine-Building Plant (NKMZ) has been given a new lease on life, now transformed into a small industrial zone.
The buildings of NKMZ stood idle for many years until the infrastructure was restored, and a small industrial zone covering an area of approximately 13,000 square meters began operating. Within its premises, there are already 10 enterprises of various profiles established, including those producing pipes, heating boilers, household chemicals, and more. There is also space available for new manufacturing facilities.
The project includes providing preferential loans for the reconstruction and construction of production facilities to accommodate small and medium-sized businesses. One of the advantages is the presence of ready-made infrastructure. Entrepreneurs are offered affordable rent and opportunities to develop their businesses.
This initiative is aimed at supporting small and medium-sized businesses, as well as local manufacturers.
For example, a company specializing in eco-friendly household chemicals has relocated to the small industrial zone. The Karaganda-based company manufactures detergents and dishwashing gels comparable to imported ones, liquid soap, laundry conditioners, cleaners, and household cleaning products.
The company revealed that they produce over 50 product types, amounting to 150 tons per month. Previously, all production was housed in a small workshop. Now, the company operates in a large, spacious facility where equipment, warehouses, laboratories, and staff rooms are accommodated. The company has plans for further expansion and aims to increase employment opportunities in the future.
The First Deputy Akim of the region, Azamat Taiyzhanov, visited the household chemical production facility. He was shown the range of local products and inquired about their demand and sales organization.
"Our main task is to support domestic manufacturers. We will continue to work in this direction: creating conditions for small and medium-sized businesses to provide new job opportunities for residents. In the region, we plan to establish several more small industrial zones based on idle buildings: there is interest from businesses. This year, 10 investment projects totaling around 250 billion tenge will be implemented in the region, creating 3500 new jobs. Emphasis is placed on import substitution and the creation of competitive industries," stated Azamat Taiyzhanov.
In the Karaganda region, it is projected that by 2024, the number of operating small and medium-sized businesses will increase to 95,200, ensuring growth in the workforce and the creation of new job opportunities.
