Discussions on ensuring the internal market of Kazakhstan with fuel and lubricants were held in the government on May 6.

According to the government's press service, the meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Sklyar, and was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, the Financial Monitoring Agency, the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the Committee of State Revenues, and JSC "NC KazMunayGas".

"Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev and Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas Magzum Mirzagaliyev reported on the stable situation in the market and sufficient reserves of all types of gasoline, diesel, and lubricants. It was particularly noted that the shipment of diesel fuel for spring sowing work to agricultural producers is being carried out on a priority basis," the statement said.

It was also noted that the Deputy Director of the Border Service of the National Security Committee, Bauyrzhan Absamatov, reported that active measures are being taken to prevent illegal exports and gray exports of oil products. Jointly with the Committee of State Revenues, around 900 cases of illegal export of gasoline, diesel, and lubricants totaling about 130,000 liters have been identified and stopped at border checkpoints since the beginning of the year.

"In addition, the Financial Monitoring Agency has registered 13 cases of illegal sale of gasoline, diesel, and lubricants totaling 6,000 tons amounting to 1.6 billion tenge since the beginning of the year. During the meeting, it was also noted that there are agreements at the government level with the Russian side regarding the supply of fuel and lubricants if necessary," the press release stated.

Following the meeting, the First Deputy Prime Minister gave specific instructions to prevent a shortage of gasoline, diesel, and lubricants in the domestic market and to prevent attempts of illegal exports from the republic.

Earlier, it was reported that the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan had published a draft order on raising prices for gasoline and diesel for foreign citizens. However, for Kazakhstani citizens, the prices for motor fuel will remain unchanged. Experts were investigating why the government is taking such a step.
