Kazakhstan Extends Ban on LPG Export and Import Restrictions for Six Months

in Economy / Kazakhstan - by

The government of Kazakhstan has announced the extension of the ban on the export of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the country for six months. The decision was made during a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on foreign trade policy and participation in international economic organizations chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhuminagarin.

The initial ban was implemented to prevent the outflow of LPG to neighboring countries and to avoid a shortage in the domestic market. Along with the extension of the LPG export ban, restrictions on wheat imports by road, rail, and water transport have also been prolonged for another six months.

Furthermore, anti-dumping measures against Chinese bearing manufacturers and Indian electrode producers have been approved for a five-year extension.

On March 5, Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev announced a slight increase in the price of LPG in Kazakhstan for 2024, ranging from 5-8 tenge depending on the region. The Ministry of Energy aims to regulate the market effectively while ensuring a stable supply of LPG.
