Japanese specialists will study the recent strong earthquakes in Almaty, as announced by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, during a briefing on April 15, 2024. From April 16 to 19, the Kazakh Agency for International Development (KazAID) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan will organize a seminar in Almaty with the participation of Japanese experts on seismic safety.
The event will be co-organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Kazakh Research and Design Institute for Seismic-resistant Construction (KazNIISA), and the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction. Japanese specialists will share their experience in seismic safety with representatives from Central Asia and the Caucasus, discuss advanced technologies and standards in seismic isolation, and explore potential cooperation in seismic construction. Experts will also study the recent earthquakes in the cities of Almaty and Noto to help develop strategies for preventing seismic risks in the future, as highlighted by Aibek Smadiyarov.
