Rising Water Levels in Ural River: Update from Atyrau Region Emergency Headquarters

The emergency headquarters in the Atyrau region has provided an update on the water level in the Ural River as of April 23, 2024. According to specialists, the high water levels are expected to continue rising.

Hydrological monitoring by the Kazhydromet RSE shows that water is flowing into the Atyrau region from the West Kazakhstan region. In the past day, the water levels have changed as follows:

- At the hydrological station on the Ural River in Inderbor, the water level has stabilized at 587 cm with a rise of 5 cm. The total rise since the beginning of the flooding is 364 cm.

- At the hydrological station on the Ural River in Makhambet, the water level is at 710 cm with a rise of 4 cm. The total rise since the beginning of the flooding is 393 cm.

- At the hydrological station on the Ural River in Atyrau, the water level is at 418 cm with a rise of 6 cm. The total rise since the beginning of the flooding is 227 cm.

Further increases in water levels are expected, with a discharge of 252 cubic meters per second from the Iriglinsk reservoir on April 23.

Previously, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation reported on the use of floodwaters in the country and highlighted the undeniable benefits of this natural phenomenon.
