in Environment / Kazakhstan - by

Over 1000 residents of the Abai region planted seedlings in the territory of the pine forest to gradually restore the forest massif.

As part of the republican campaign "Taza Qazaqstan," all those willing to participate in the restoration of the unique relict pine forest in the village of Zhylandy, Beskaragai district, set off. The participants included over a thousand people, ranging from the region's leadership, representatives of the public, and including youth, members of the maslikhats, volunteers, media, and athletes.

Today, a total of 57,120 seedlings were transplanted from nurseries into the forest soil on an area of 12 hectares.

The head of the Abai region, Nurlan Urankhaev, noted that their main goal is to preserve the forest, which serves as a shield protecting the biodiversity and ecosystem of the region.

"This initiative will undoubtedly continue. In Semey, the students of FC Elimai and the team of MFC Semey also contributed to greening by planting seedlings. All of us can set an example for the younger generation by participating in cleaning up and beautifying our region," said the regional leader.

In total, by 2024, it is planned to plant 28.7 million seedlings on an area of 6100 hectares in the reserve. This process is divided into two stages: more than 5000 hectares will be sown in the spring, while the remaining 961 hectares will be filled with young pine shoots in the autumn.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the campaign in the Abai region, around 12,000 yards have been cleaned, over 13,000 tons of waste have been taken to solid waste landfills, 80,000 trees have been planted, 22,000 shrubs have been planted, 218 parks have been cleaned, and 85 historical and cultural monuments have been cleared.
