Zhaiyk River Water Levels Rise, Reaching Over 7 Meters in Some Areas

The water level in the Zhaiyk River has increased by 3 to 19 cm depending on the adjacent area. At one of the stations, the total level reached over 7 meters.

According to the hydrological monitoring data from "Kazhydromet" as of April 28, 08:00:

- At the Zhaiyk - Inderbor settlement hydrological station, the level is at 645 cm, with a rise of 19 cm in the level, and a total increase since the beginning of the flood season of 422 cm.

- Zhaiyk - Makhambet settlement - the level is at 743 cm, with an 8 cm rise in the level in a day, and a total increase since the beginning of the flood season of 426 cm.

- At the Zhaiyk - Atyrau hydrological station, the level is at 434 cm, with a 3 cm rise in the level in a day, and a total increase since the beginning of the flood season of 243 cm.

Experts note that the water level in the river has risen due to the water inflow from the West Kazakhstan region. Further increase in the water level is expected.

As of April 28, the discharge from the Irtysh Reservoir is 192 m³/s.

On April 25, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MЧС) reported that the high water is gradually moving from the West Kazakhstan region to the Atyrau region.
