Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov has signed a decree on the establishment of the Forest Fund Protection Service. The Prime Minister's press service stated that the new republican civil defense service under the Ministry of Ecology will enhance the efficiency of forestry institutions in emergency situations, including extinguishing forest fires.
The necessity for a separate service is driven by the fact that combating forest fires requires a scientific approach to forest reproduction and tree felling, the implementation of a set of preventive measures, and the development of relevant competencies.
The establishment of the Forest Fund Protection Service is expected to improve the coordination of government agencies in extinguishing large-scale forest fires, enhance the technical equipment of relevant institutions, and form a qualified personnel in the field of preventing and extinguishing natural fires.
Currently, Kazakhstan has 15 republican civil defense services aimed at ensuring the sustainable operation of various life support institutions in the country. These include firefighting services, medical services, chemical protection services, engineering services, radiation protection services, the National Hydrometeorological Service, and more.
On April 30, it was announced that Kazakhstan has established a hydrogeological service.
