Renowned Kyrgyz Poet Zholochu Rysbaev Passes Away at 75

Zholochu Rysbaev, the national poet of the Kyrgyz Republic, passed away at the age of 75. The press service of the head of state released an obituary.

Renowned poet, satirist, and feuilletonist Zholochu Rysbaev was born on June 25, 1949, in the village of Zhylyu-Bulak in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the Kyrgyz Philology Faculty of the Kyrgyz State University and successfully completed his studies in 1974.

In 1975, he began his professional and creative career at the State Committee of the Kirghiz SSR for Television and Radio Broadcasting as an editor, later becoming the chief editor of the literary-dramatic editorial office. He also worked as an editor for well-known entertainment radio programs such as "Kutmanduu bolsun kununor," "Shibege," and "Ne v brov, a v glaz," and was the author and editor of the very popular TV show "Myskyl zhan tamasha" among viewers.

From 2005 to 2010, he worked as the senior editor of the Chui regional television and radio company "Sary-Ozon."

From 2010 to 2012, he was a correspondent for the radio station "Kyrgyz Radiosu."

In addition to his editorial work, Zholochu Rysbaev was actively involved in literary work. Since 1988, he has been a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR. He authored works such as "Chyrmoook" (1982), "Konguroo" (1988), "Oy shumdook" (1991), "Oozuna tash" (1993), "Ap-chi-khi, chuchunuz" (1999), "Men Midin emesmin, Midin men emes" (2006), "Achuu-tattuu aralash" (2009), "Kakabasan mushtabayt elem" (2014), "Sary tikenduu satiralar" and "Aarynyn uusu achuu, baly tattuu" (2022). Books such as "Tysyacha i odna ulybka" (2007) and "Solnechny kray" (2017) have been released in Russian. He is also the author of lyrics for popular songs like "Zhar-zhar" and "Suluularga suktanuuga akym bar."

Zholochu Rysbaev's works in literature, culture, and broadcasting were highly appreciated by the state and recognized with several prestigious awards: in 2012, he was awarded an honorary diploma from the State Service of Intellectual Property and Innovations under the government of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was also honored with the titles of "Honored Worker of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic" (2019) and "National Poet of the Kyrgyz Republic" (2021).

"The vivid image of Rysbaev Zholochu Sultanovich will forever remain in our memory. We express our deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and loved ones of the deceased, sharing the bitterness of their irreparable loss," the obituary reads.
