Kyrgyzstan Court Invalidates Decision to Remove Material from Website "Kloop"

The Administrative Court of Bishkek has ruled the Ministry of Culture's decisions to remove material from the website "Kloop" and subsequently block it as invalid. The editorial team announced this in their Telegram channel.

According to lawyer Nurbek Sydykov, the publication's website can be unblocked if the Bishkek City Court makes a similar decision. The editorial team clarified that this ruling only applies to the Russian-language version of the "Kloop" website, which has been blocked since September 12, while the Kyrgyz-language version has been blocked since early November.

The website Kloop.kg was blocked due to an article titled "Politician Ravshan Dzheenbekov claims he is being tortured in pre-trial detention". The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Culture about it. The security services deemed the material "not corresponding to reality and damaging the reputation of the GKNB". However, the news article about Dzheenbekov included a statement from the Penal Service denying his claims of torture.
