Vladimir Putin's State Visit to Uzbekistan Strengthens Partnership Alliance

President of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived in Tashkent on Sunday evening for a state visit. He was welcomed at the capital's airport by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as reported by his press service.

During the visit, with the main events scheduled for Monday, discussions will focus on the development of the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.

The two presidents will also participate in the first meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia.

The visit is expected to conclude with the signing of a package of cooperation documents.

Tashkent has been adorned with flags of both countries in preparation for the visit. Greetings to Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials are displayed on screens throughout the city.

This is the second state visit of Vladimir Putin since his re-election in March, following his visit to China in mid-May.

The previous state visit of Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan took place in October 2018.
