Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Dastan Bekeshev, has received complaints from hospital directors and chief physicians about delays in receiving medicines and medical supplies. Bekeshev attributes the delays to the state's cost-saving measure of centralizing pharmaceutical purchases under "Kyrgyzpharmacia."
Despite claims of cost-saving, hospitals are facing shortages while patients are forced to buy medications themselves. Bekeshev criticizes the lack of proper documentation in medicine deliveries, warning of potential consequences on doctors if substandard drugs are used.
The state-owned "Kyrgyzpharmacia" was established in March 2023 to improve drug accessibility, receiving significant budget allocations in May and June. The initiative has reportedly saved over 300 million som in drug procurement costs.
