Kudret Taichabarov has been appointed as the head of the Tourism Development Fund, as announced on his Facebook page. Previously, in 2020, following a change in leadership, he served as the general director of the Bishkek Special Economic Zone (SEZ), appointed by Sadyr Japarov during his tenure as Prime Minister.
During his two-year tenure in public service, Taichabarov has faced several scandals due to his controversial statements. In a Facebook post, he expressed support for a parliament member's initiative to restrict the travel of young Kyrgyz women to Turkey, insinuating that a significant percentage of them are engaged in sex work.
This statement sparked a wave of criticism, with social media users calling out Taichabarov for generalizing and urged him to remember his own path to a government position. Additionally, Taichabarov made headlines for being involved in a car accident where a 21-year-old man was injured and hospitalized. The SEZ head claimed that the young man was unfamiliar with traffic rules, a statement refuted by the injured man's mother.
Taichabarov resigned from his position as the general director of the SEZ in January 2023, citing exhaustion as the reason for his departure.
