The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh recently visited the National Academy of Sciences to learn about the activities of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Language and Literature, and the Asylbek Altymyshbaev Institute of Philosophy, Law, and Socio-Political Studies. The parliament's press service disclosed that Nurlanbek Shakiev engaged with the academy's staff, listening to their concerns and emphasizing the necessity for a significant reform of the institution to elevate it as a leading center for scientific research. He underscored the pivotal role of science in fostering development across various sectors, suggesting that reforming the National Academy of Sciences would involve restructuring the relevant ministry.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around various topics, including the issue of low salaries for employees. Participants also deliberated on the importance of amending laws and enhancing the academy's material-technical resources. The Speaker pledged to address all raised concerns, with a specific focus on enhancing working conditions and salaries for scientists. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of digitizing and ensuring proper storage conditions for the academy's historical manuscripts, and generously donated modern computer equipment to the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
