The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zaparov, emphasized the strategic importance of healthcare development during the opening of the SCO Medical Congress in Bishkek. The congress, dedicated to the renowned scientist Mirsaid Mirrakhimov, has gathered 400 medical professionals, including over 100 international guests. Zaparov highlighted Kyrgyzstan's role as a pioneer in organizing such a significant event involving SCO member states, aiming to deepen medical cooperation.
Over the past three years, healthcare funding in Kyrgyzstan has doubled, with a notable increase from 19 billion soms in 2019 to 38 billion soms in 2023. Significant efforts have been made to modernize medical facilities, including the establishment of new hospitals and the procurement of advanced medical equipment. The country has seen improvements in medical services, such as the addition of MRI machines in regional hospitals and the opening of new dialysis centers to aid patients with kidney failure.
The government has also initiated programs to facilitate organ transplants, with support from the presidential fund and international partners. Projects totaling $77 million under the state investment program and grant projects exceeding $116.5 million are underway. The National Center for Cardiology and Therapy is implementing an Emergency Cardiology program, equipped with state-of-the-art angiographic equipment. Collaboration with experts from China, Russia, and Kazakhstan will enable advanced interventions for cardiovascular diseases.
Furthermore, Kyrgyzstan is rapidly advancing in the digitization of healthcare, incorporating artificial intelligence and innovative medical technologies. The integration of AI and the active participation of leading specialists aim to enhance medical practices and ensure quality healthcare services for all citizens.
