Kyrgyzstan Implements New Methods to Combat Extremism

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

Kyrgyzstan is adopting new prevention methods in combating extremism, as highlighted by the Deputy Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs, Zamir Kozhombardiyev. The focus of these strategies will be on the digital realm, particularly targeting youth who are being influenced by harmful ideologies through social media.

Collaborating with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kozhombardiyev mentioned, "We are developing innovative techniques that prioritize high-quality preventive actions. By engaging students through presentations and discussions on religion, we pique their interest and address any queries when they come across online content related to these topics."

Aman Saliev, the Director of the Institute for Strategic Analysis and Forecasting, underscored the success of these prevention efforts. "Choosing a preventative approach over coercive measures has proven effective. By avoiding the heavy-handed tactics observed in neighboring countries, which focused on force, we have prevented the escalation of severe and uncontrollable crises," Saliev stated.

Ratbek Turusbekov, a team member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Anti-Extremism and Illegal Migration Service, highlighted the impact of using theatrical performances as a preventive measure against extremism.
