in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beyshenaliev has filed a lawsuit in the Leninsky District Court of Bishkek against Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Zhusupbek Korgonbay uulu, for the protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation. The official was offended by the statements made by the deputy during a parliamentary session.

The Minister's lawyer, Kaysyn Abakirov, stated that while public officials can be criticized in the media for their professional duties, there is a distinction between constructive criticism and baseless defamation aimed at humiliating dignity and tarnishing reputation.

Alymkadyr Beyshenaliev is seeking to compel Zhusupbek Korgonbay uulu to refute inaccurate information that tarnishes his honor, dignity, and business reputation. The Minister is claiming for both material and moral damages amounting to 10,000 soms. During a session of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 14, 2024, the Deputy referred to the Minister of Health as a "black surgeon" and alleged a connection between Beyshenaliev and a criminal group.

Furthermore, the Deputy claimed that since the Minister took office, there has been an increase in mortality rates in hospitals. Allegations were made regarding medical malpractice and negligence resulting in severe consequences for patients. Minister Alymkadyr Beyshenaliev responded to the accusations, emphasizing that medical assistance is provided to all patients regardless of their social status. He also suggested that the Deputy's resentment stems from his own aspirations to hold the position of Minister of Health.
