The Osh electoral district in Kyrgyzstan is currently without a deputy in the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) following the resignation of Aibek Osmonov. A new deputy will be elected on April 28.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has closed the acceptance of documents for the vacant seat, with 18 candidates vying for the position. The number of candidates may decrease as they must meet electoral legislation requirements before being officially recognized.
One of the candidates is Yulia Liliental, who previously participated in elections in a different district and received 867 votes. She made headlines for her failed attempt to run for president due to refusing a language exam.
Another contender is Tursunbay Bakir uulu, a seasoned participant in electoral campaigns who has run for various positions, including president. He leads the party "ErK" and has served as a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh and ambassador to Malaysia.
The candidate pool also includes former deputies, municipal officials, pensioners, and delegates, each bringing diverse backgrounds and experiences to the electoral race. As the election nears, the Osh electoral district anticipates the selection of its new representative in the Jogorku Kenesh.
