Temirov Live journalist Ayke Beishekeeva will remain in pre-trial detention until May 13 at the pre-trial detention center-1. The Bishkek City Court upheld the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court. This information was provided by the court's press service.
According to the court, appeals of other detainees will be considered on April 1. The judicial panel of the Bishkek City Court previously did not satisfy the appeals of Tynystan Asypbekov, Maxat Tazhibek uulu, and Azamat Ishenbekov.
It is worth noting that the court extended the detention period until May 13 for eight detained journalists - Mahabat Tazhibek kyzy, Ayke Beishekeeva, Aktilek Kaparov, Zhoodar Buzumov, Azamat Ishenbekov, Saypidin Sultanaliyev, Maxat Tazhibek uulu, and Tynystan Asypbekov.
On January 16, the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a search at the Temirov Live office, seizing editorial equipment. The police searched homes and detained 11 current and former employees of the publication.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that as a result of a "judicial-linguistic examination" of the content on the pages of Temirov Live and "Ait Ait Dese" on social media on December 30, 2023, a criminal case was initiated under Article 278 "Incitement to Mass Disorders" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Those detained include Mahabat Tazhibek kyzy, Sapar Akunbekov, Azamat Ishenbekov, Saypidin Sultanaliyev, Aktilek Kaparov, Tynystan Asypbekov, Maxat Tazhibek uulu, Zhoodar Buzumov, Zhumabek Turdaliyev, Ayke Beishekeeva, and Akyl Orozbekov. All of them are former or current employees of Temirov Live. A preventive measure of detention for two months - until March 13 - was chosen for all 11 detained journalists. They were held in the temporary detention facility for almost two weeks without being transferred to the pre-trial detention center.
