The Minister of Culture, Altynbek Maksutov, has criticized the work of leaders of theatrical institutions, as reported by the ministry's press service. During a meeting, the minister pointed out several shortcomings, including:
- Lack of monitoring of performances in theaters according to the needs and tastes of the audience
- Low number of productions on current topics
- Absence of new perspectives and ideas
- Lack of a unified algorithm for leaders' interaction
Maksutov acknowledged the support from the government but expressed disappointment in the institutions' management neglecting their duties. He put forward several demands, such as:
- Improving the quality of repertoire
- Attracting more audience to theaters
- Implementing a unified ticketing system
- Working on a contractual basis
- Supporting young talents
- Providing moral and material incentives
- Planning touring activities
Maksutov also mentioned that there will be an analysis of the theater institutions' plan for 2024 and assessments for 2023, based on which actions will be taken.
