President Sadyr Japarov welcomed Erkin Tunyaz, Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region, China, on a working visit to Kyrgyzstan. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as digitalization, transportation logistics, investments, agriculture, and humanitarian efforts.
Japarov emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region and expediting joint projects. Kyrgyzstan is keen on enhancing collaboration with China within the SCO framework, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Central Asia-China format.
Japarov acknowledged China as a key trade and investment partner, highlighting the progress of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. Tunyaz noted the arrival of a large delegation from China, comprising representatives of over 50 major companies ready to implement joint projects.
The Chairman underlined their focus on projects previously discussed at the leadership level and expressed readiness for their implementation. Both sides emphasized the importance of advancing trade and economic relations, with particular attention to the efficient operation of the Irkeshtam and Torugart border crossings, crucial for further boosting bilateral trade.
