President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Zhaparov, has signed a decree appointing Ulan Maylibashev as the Mayor of Kant in the Chui region. The announcement was made by the presidential press service. The decision was made in accordance with Article 47 of the Law "On Local State Administration and Local Self-Government Bodies" and the President's Decree "On the Implementation of Administrative-Territorial Reform on a Pilot Basis at the Level of Villages and Cities in the Kyrgyz Republic."
As part of the ongoing administrative-territorial reform, Kant was merged with the Luxembourg village district, resulting in its status being elevated to a city of republican significance.
