Deputy Iskhak Masaliev Criticizes Court Decision on Politician Adahan Madumarov

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

During a plenary session at the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Iskhak Masaliev commented on the verdict regarding the politician Adahan Madumarov. He reminded that on March 26, Judge Mirbek Satarbek uulu reviewed the criminal case of Adahan Madumarov and found him guilty on two counts. However, due to the statute of limitations, he was released from punishment.

Masaliev expressed his dismay that despite the expiration of the statute of limitations, Madumarov was kept in custody for six months before being informed that no punishment would be imposed. He criticized the judge for not respecting the law and stated that authorities had predetermined Madumarov as a traitor and criminal.

The deputy also discussed another case where Adahan Madumarov was accused of receiving money to become a deputy nine years ago. He questioned the absurdity of initiating a criminal case based on a photocopy presented by someone claiming ownership of the money. Masaliev urged the parliament speaker to contribute to a fair decision regarding Madumarov.

Previously, the parliament had consented to hold Deputy Adahan Madumarov criminally responsible for a protocol signed in 2009 in Khujand. The protocol involved Kyrgyzstan leasing a 5-hectare land to Tajikistan for 49 years. The document was ratified after negotiations in Khujand, aligning with internal procedures for signing an intergovernmental agreement on prohibiting economic activities along the state border until its demarcation.
