Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs Responds to Diplomat's Home Search Incident

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently issued a statement addressing the official check carried out at the residence of a Kyrgyz diplomat. The Ministry appreciated the stance taken by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who emphasized the sanctity of diplomatic status and Russia's commitment to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

However, the Ministry raised concerns regarding a communication from Irina Volk, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as it seemed to draw premature conclusions before the investigation's completion. The Ministry found it troubling that the message appeared to shift blame onto the woman and children present in the diplomat's apartment during the incident.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of a prompt, unbiased, and thorough investigation, highlighting the significance of reviewing body camera footage from the police officers and photo evidence submitted by the Kyrgyz Embassy in Russia to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement also referenced the events of April 8th when two employees from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs visited the home of Manas Zholdoshbekov, an advisor to the Kyrgyz Ambassador in Moscow, to verify the legality of a foreign national's stay in Russia. The officers reportedly forced entry and requested a specific section of the migration registration form.
