The Ministry of Transport has set up a working group to address concerns raised by heavy truck drivers. Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Yrysbeck Bariyev, announced this during a parliamentary committee meeting on international affairs, defense, security, and migration.

Bariyev clarified that the weight of heavy trucks and their axle load are determined based on road characteristics. He stressed the importance of resolving drivers' concerns to prevent road damage from overweight vehicles. The working group, in partnership with experts from the Polytechnic University and a scientific institute, will provide recommendations on this issue.

Specifically, Bariyev pointed out the problem of overloaded HOWO trucks, which have a weight limit of 25 tons but are only allowed to transport up to 9 tons to avoid road deterioration. He highlighted that surpassing weight limits results in road destruction.

Previously, heavy truck drivers had protested, seeking an increase in truck load capacity on roads and the lifting of the ban on daytime entry into Bishkek. In response, the Ministry of Transport referred to the existing regulations outlined in Government Resolution No. 454 of August 8, 2011, which adhere to the Minsk Agreement on vehicle weights and dimensions for intergovernmental transport within the CIS member states. The resolution restricts the load on roads to 10.5 tons.
