Authorities Cannot Provide Timeline for Completion of Park Boundary Approval Works

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

During a press conference, Mayor Aybek Djunushaliev stated that he is unable to predict the timeline for completing the works related to the approval of the boundaries of Ataturk Park. The decision was made within the existing legislation framework, with tasks set to be implemented gradually. Djunushaliev mentioned that every resolution may be appealed in judicial bodies.

The Mayor highlighted that no changes were made to the park boundaries while issuing documents for land allocation. He emphasized that if the boundaries were altered and plots were transferred, the issue would not have been raised. Djunushaliev also mentioned that 124 previous resolutions by the local authorities regarding 198 objects have been revoked.

The Mayor signed a resolution approving the boundaries of Ataturk Park covering an area of 107 hectares within the limits set by a 1992 resolution. This entails that 43 hectares of land designated for construction must be returned to the park. The Department of Municipal Property Management, Land Use Control, and the October Administration have been tasked with reclaiming park land and dismantling illegally constructed real estate within the park's boundaries.

Member of the Parliament, Dastan Bekeshev, confirmed that houses within Ataturk Park will not be demolished. The park, originally established in the late 1950s, underwent various transformations over the years. In the 1990s, construction within the park began, reaching its peak in the 2000s amid scandals related to land sales to high-ranking officials or their relatives for private residences.
