in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

In light of the challenging flood situation in the country, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed to refrain from holding major events. This decision aims to save resources during these difficult times, as reported by centralasia.media.

"I have canceled a major international forum to save funds. We will reduce the expenses of the World Nomad Games. Although it is impossible to cancel such an event, the budget will be significantly reduced. Additionally, there will be cuts in the budget for hosting and participating in our country's presence at the World Expo in Tokyo," he stated during a meeting with the flood-affected population of the North Kazakhstan region.

It is worth noting that the V World Nomad Games will take place in Astana from September 8 to 14, 2024. In the past, these games were held in Kyrgyzstan in 2014, 2016, and 2018, and in Turkey in 2022. The competition will see the participation of around 4,000 athletes from over 100 countries worldwide.
