Kyrgyz Prime Minister Holds Meetings with Financial Institutions in Washington, USA

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zaparov, recently met with the leadership of several financial institutions in Washington, USA, as reported by the government's press service. During the meetings, Zaparov discussed various topics aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public finances, developing the private sector, and combating corruption.

One of the key meetings was with Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Zaparov emphasized the government's focus on implementing reforms to achieve strategic goals, including discussing bilateral cooperation, infrastructure projects such as the construction of the Kambarata-1 hydropower plant, irrigation, healthcare, and education projects in Kyrgyzstan.

Additionally, Zaparov met with Jin Liqun, the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), where he highlighted the ongoing reforms and the country's economic development achievements. The discussions also touched upon fiscal measures, tax administration, effective economic regulation, and a wide range of monetary policy instruments.

Furthermore, Zaparov met with Marcus Berndt, the Acting Managing Director of the European Investment Bank (EIB), underscoring the EIB's role as one of Kyrgyz Republic's leading international financial partners. The Prime Minister expressed Kyrgyzstan's keen interest in collaborating on clean energy initiatives, particularly in harnessing the country's hydropower potential.

Moreover, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, held a meeting with Helal Sheikhrokh, the Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, to discuss potential cooperation opportunities.
