The Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, Sadyr Japarov and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, recently held the sixth meeting of the High Interstate Council. The press service of the head of state reported that during the meeting, Tokayev emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries and confirmed the shared goal of strengthening their relationship.
Japarov, in turn, expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for the humanitarian assistance provided following an accident at a Bishkek thermal power plant. He also expressed readiness to support Kazakhstan in light of the ongoing extensive floods in several regions of the country.
The heads of state listened to reports from relevant government bodies of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various fields such as trade and investment, transportation and transit, water and energy, as well as culture. Several important documents were signed as a result of the negotiations, including agreements on deepening and expanding allied relations, adjustments to the intergovernmental agreement on border checkpoints, and cooperation in investment protection.
Additionally, a joint action plan for the development of automobile border checkpoints between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan was established. Memorandums of understanding were also signed between the State Agency for Personal Data Protection of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, as well as between the State Agency of Architecture, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan.
