The Tajikistani publication "Asia Plus" reports that the UK's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, David Cameron, currently on a visit to Tajikistan, aims to enhance cooperation with Central Asian countries and Mongolia. Cameron stressed the significance of collective action to uphold global principles, focusing on combating corruption and preventing the region from being exploited as a loophole for sanctions evasion.

British companies have been instrumental in developing the oil, gas, and other resources in the region. The UK now seeks to facilitate access to investments and technologies essential for more energy-efficient economies in Central Asia. Cameron announced the establishment of a fund for direct investments/venture capital for small and medium enterprises in Central Asia to bolster regional businesses.

In addition, Cameron disclosed plans to double the funding for Chevening scholarships in Central Asia to enable more individuals to pursue studies at prestigious universities. He voiced support for educational opportunities in the region, mentioning British universities providing diplomas in Uzbekistan and the launch of new campuses and programs in Kazakhstan.

During his visit, Cameron made history by becoming the first British Foreign Minister to visit all five Central Asian states and Mongolia, with the aim of deepening cooperation with each country. He underscored the challenges posed by geopolitical competition, climate change, and the imperative of equipping youth with skills for the evolving global landscape, underscoring the value of collaboration in addressing these challenges.
