Kyrgyz President Signs Law Granting Military Personnel Right to Privatize Housing

President Sadyr Japarov has signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic (Housing Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, Law of the Kyrgyz Republic 'On the Status of Servicemen')." The president's press service announced that the law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on March 13.

The aim of the law is to implement the guaranteed right of military personnel with 20 years of service or more to privatize the provided official housing. Specifically, changes have been made to the Housing Code, allowing for the privatization of official housing in exceptional cases through direct sale to servicemen with 20 years of service or more.

Furthermore, amendments have been made to the Law "On the Status of Servicemen." The thirteenth part now states that military personnel retired to the reserve or due to age, health, staff reductions, or other important circumstances, with 20 years of service or more, as well as family members of deceased servicemen, can have the official apartments provided to them in their chosen place of residence transferred to their personal ownership free of charge.

Additionally, the twenty-third part grants military personnel with 20 years of service or more the right to privatize the provided official apartments through direct sale. This new law marks a significant step towards ensuring the welfare and rights of military personnel in Kyrgyzstan.
