in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

In Batken constituency No. 2, Osh constituency No. 7, and Kara-Suu constituency No. 9, early elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh have concluded.

Thirty candidates participated in the elections in the three constituencies, with only one woman among them. In Batken constituency, 10 candidates ran for office, while in Osh, there were 13 candidates vying for the mandate, and in Kara-Suu, there were 7 names on the ballot.

According to preliminary data from the automated management system, Ilimbek Kubanychbekov is leading in the Kara-Suu constituency with 36.16% of the votes.

In the Osh constituency, Bekmurza Ergeshov is set to become a deputy to the Jogorku Kenesh with 43.80% of the votes.

In the Batken constituency, Baktyyar Kalpaev is ahead of his competitors with 41.51% of the votes. The parliamentary seats became vacant after reports aired on the "Region TV" channel, owned by the head of the GKNB Kamchybek Tashiev, about the connections of certain MPs with former customs official Rayimbek Matraimov. Some of them decided to resign from their mandates.

Among those mentioned were Rayimbek Matraimov's brother Iskender Matraimov, Aybek Osmonov, Shailoobek Atazov, and the initiator of the foreign agents bill, Nadira Narmatova. Respondents noted that these Jogorku Kenesh members should voluntarily relinquish their parliamentary powers or be stripped of their mandates.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) first prematurely terminated the powers of "Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan" faction member Abdibakhap Boronbaev, who had previously headed the Southwest Customs before entering parliament. The mandate was then transferred to the next candidate on the party's electoral list, businessman Saidbek Zulpuev.

Subsequently, based on statements of mandate renunciation, the CEC prematurely terminated the powers of Jogorku Kenesh deputies Iskender Matraimov, Nurlan Rajabaliyev, and Aybek Osmonov. Since they entered parliament from single-mandate districts, the president appointed early elections in those constituencies.
