in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov met with the head of the people's government of Shaanxi Province, China, Zhao Gan. The government's press service reported this meeting.

Akylbek Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan has long been connected to Shaanxi Province through the ancient Silk Road. He emphasized that in May 2023, a new chapter of cooperation in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries was opened when the "China-Central Asia" summit took place in Xi'an and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic paid a state visit to China. As a result, the relationship between the two countries has reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed the view that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will uniquely revive the ancient Silk Road, which started in Xi'an.

"By utilizing its geographical location, Shaanxi Province and Kyrgyzstan can attract additional volumes of international transit cargo transportation, which will significantly increase trade turnover between China and the region," said Akylbek Japarov.

The head of the people's government of Shaanxi Province, Zhao Gan, noted that the visit creates good opportunities for discussing and further developing joint projects. He expressed readiness to advance cooperation in trade and economic as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The sides discussed the prospects for the development of comprehensive cooperation, particularly in trade and economic directions, implementation of investment projects, export of Kyrgyz environmentally friendly agricultural products to Shaanxi Province, tourism development, joint launch of pilot projects of industrial zones and agricultural parks in Kyrgyzstan. They also discussed cooperation in the energy sector.
