Bishkek Official Proposes Alternative Solution for Ataturk Park Housing Issue

in Politics / Kyrgyzstan - by

Member of the Jogorku Kenesh, Dastan Bekeshev, believes that there is no need to demolish houses in the Ataturk Park. He expressed this opinion in his Telegram channel.

According to him, he has made this proposal to the Mayor of Bishkek. "I wrote that there is no need to demolish the houses that are already within the boundaries of the park. It would be better to tax them. I believe that the second, third, or fourth buyer, even if they are wealthy, is not to blame. They are not at fault that land plots were allocated and sold corruptly in the past, based on decisions of various government bodies," he said.

The deputy also mentioned land amnesty. "Why was it possible for some to seize land and now they are allowed to build there, while someone acquired land on legal grounds, not even knowing the initial officials who allocated plots in the park and built houses there, and now they are affected," he added.

Dastan Bekeshev pointed out that besides mansions, there are several multi-story buildings in the park area, and 200-300 families could end up on the streets.

It is worth noting that in April, Mayor Aybek Junushaliev signed a resolution approving the boundaries of the Ataturk Park. According to archival data from the Bishkekglavarchitectura municipal enterprise, 198 objects fall within the return zone. However, the mayor mentioned that their number could be higher. The municipality assures that they will act within the framework of the law regarding real estate properties, prepare and file lawsuits in court. The municipality has also forwarded materials to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.
