Bishkek Mayor Bans Personal Vehicle Use for City Officials on Select Days

The Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Dzhunushaliev, has signed a document prohibiting city hall employees and municipal officials from using personal vehicles on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The information has been confirmed by the municipality and a local news outlet.

According to the document, employees and department heads of the central office of the city mayor, departmental and territorial subdivisions, municipal enterprises, and institutions are required to:

  • Use public transport for city commutes every Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Monitor the compliance with sanitary norms, service quality, and payment methods while using public transport.
  • Use official vehicles strictly for work purposes.
  • The Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the city mayor is tasked with organizing transportation for off-site meetings.

Furthermore, heads of departmental and territorial offices of the city mayor, municipal enterprises, and institutions must submit a report on their work progress by the 25th of each month.
