Jogorku Kenesh Considers Bill to Reduce Insurance Contribution Rates by Half

The Jogorku Kenesh is considering a bill to reduce insurance contribution rates. The parliament's website reports that the document proposes to decrease the rates from 27.25 to 12.25 percent. Under this proposal, employers would contribute 2.25 percent, while employees would contribute 10 percent.

However, the reduction in rates would not apply to the following:

  • Organizations funded from the state budget
  • Mining enterprises developing subsoil areas of national importance with a license for subsoil use
  • Companies engaged in providing electricity, heat energy, and gas
  • Business entities involved in the production and/or import of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, and fuel and lubricants, excluding those engaged in the production and processing of petroleum products with a license to conduct such activities in accordance with the licensing system legislation in the Kyrgyz Republic
  • Entities operating in the field of cellular communication
  • Internet service providers
  • Commercial banks, specialized financial or credit institutions
