The deadline for editing the draft law "On Mass Media" has been extended until the end of June, as reported by the lawyer Tattububu Ergeshbaeva. According to her, the concept of the document has undergone significant changes.

"We have managed to cancel a number of conflicting norms. In particular, the provision on the mandatory registration of any internet resource as a media outlet has been removed. Now it will be voluntary. Additionally, we have eliminated the article on liability for statements made by the interviewer in a live broadcast or transmission," said Tattububu Ergeshbaeva.

She added that overall, the new draft law, if all the amendments proposed by experts are accepted, can be considered progressive.

It is worth noting that in early March, the country's president held a closed meeting with the leaders of the leading media outlets and well-known journalists. Among other issues, the media representatives raised the issue of the media law. Sadyr Japarov promised to look into it.

On March 13, his press secretary Askat Alagozov announced that, at the president's instruction, the draft law on mass media has been withdrawn.
